Please note: This page is no longer being updated and is for information only. It relates to the now adopted Joint Core Strategy.

The Strategic Assessment of Land Availability (SALA) identifies a future supply of land which is suitable, available and viable for housing and economic development uses over the plan period. The assessment is based on the requirement to understand what land is available for development in a local authority’s area as set out in paragraph 67 of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).

A SALA does not determine or make recommendations as to whether a particular site should be allocated for housing or employment purposes, nor does it determine whether planning permission should be granted, these matters are for the statutory plan and decision making processes.

As part of the Issues and Options consultation on the JCS Review, a Call for Sites is taking place across the three JCS authorities, should you wish to submit a site for consideration in a SALA please download and complete the proforma.  The deadline for responses to the consultation, including the Call for Sites is 11th January 2019. Please submit completed proformas to info@jointcorestrategy.org.
