We are aware that strategic planning and the Joint Core Strategy (JCS) and its review are complicated matters and that the type of language used is not always easy to understand. We have therefore put together some frequently asked questions (FAQs), a glossary of terms and other useful information to explain a range of planning terms and help answer any questions you may have.

We have set out who from the three JCS authorities (Gloucester City, Cheltenham Borough and Tewkesbury Borough Councils) is involved in making planning decisions, and the process for making these decisions. We have also included a site map to help you navigate this website and a section with external links, which we hope you will find useful.
