Adoption

The Joint Core Strategy (JCS) 2011-2031 was adopted by Gloucester City Council, Cheltenham Borough Council and Tewkesbury Borough Council in December 2017.

The three authorities are now progressing a Strategic and Local Plan (SLP). The SLP will provide an overarching planning strategy and cross-boundary strategic policies covering the whole area, and local policies for each local authority.

The Adopted JCS remains a crucial part of the development plan for each of the three areas. Planning applications are determined based on these local development plans.

A40 Innsworth Gateway

The Innsworth Gateway project will deliver a new roundabout on the A40 Gloucester Northern Bypass between Elmbridge and Longford to facilitate development at Innsworth. It will provide an upgrade to Longford Roundabout increasing its capacity to accommodate predicted future traffic flows and assist in relieving existing congestion.

The project was awarded £4.53million of funding from GFirst LEP’s Growth Deal 3 to help mitigate traffic growth in the area providing access to the housing allocation at Innsworth.
